Made in Mildura - Trentham Fisheries

Trentham Fisheries is a family run Murray Cod farm about 20km from Mildura on the NSW side of the Murray River.

The farm mainly supplies fish markets in the capital cities, but if you phone ahead and "ask nicely", you are able to purchase one of our regions' most icon species.

Trentham Fisheries gives us the opportunity to eat one of these beautiful tasting fish without affecting the native population in the Murray River, and you get to eat a size that would normally have to be released back into the river.

This is a big win for those of us who love a good feed of fish, the sustainability of the Murray River and if you're anything like me, it will also save you a lot of time trying to land the elusive "big one"!

Trentam Fisheries can be contacted on 0407 248 729, or you can visit their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064562238888

Major Blow For Easter Power Sports

Photo Credit - Mildura Ski Club Facebook page

Mildura's marquee weekend has been struck a major blow as the Mildura Ski Club has had no choice but to cancel what is arguably the biggest event on the Mildura sporting calendar.

The Mildura 100 Ski Race, (which attracts over 600 competitors every year) said on their Facebook page that "Ski Racing Australia (SRA) has put a hold on all competitive ski racing in Australia until June 30 2025, while a special purpose investigation is undertaken with NSW Maritime."

This comes following a number of tragic events in the sport where competitors have lost their life. Although the two Mildura races (Mildura 100 and the Murray Darling 110) have seen no catastrophic events, SRA deemed an investigation necessary before any further events take place. Therefore the Mildura 100, the Murray Darling 110 and Echuca Southern 80 will not be held this season.

The Easter Power Sports won't look the same without the Mildura 100, but every effort will be made by organisers for the event to return in 2026.

Meanwhile, there will still be plenty of motorsports action over the Easter long weekend with Mildura Motorcycle Club hosting events as well as the Sunraysia Drag Racing Club and B&S Earthworks Timmis Speedway who will host one of the biggest events on the Speedway events calendar with the Australian Modified Production Title. This event will attract teams Australia wide and will provide some thrilling racing over the Easter weekend.

There has been no word on what the Good Friday Show n' Shine will look like this year that is held in Mildura's City Heart, but one can only imagine that it will still be massive with plenty for motor sport enthusiasts to view.

Lake Cullulleraine Gets in on Tourist Action

The
Lake Cullulleraine Inflatable Water Park is gearing up to open mid to late December this year and will operate through to April with proposed operational days of Thursday through to Sunday.

The Lake is approximately 60 kilometers from Mildura and not only will this project be a major boost for the accommodation providers at the Lake but will also provide locals with another activity.

Mildura Rural City Council are currently working with the water park operator to have everything in place for a successful opening.

The lake is already a popular spot for weekend getaways as well as longer holidays. It has a great walking track around the lake (see below video) where an abundance of wildlife can be seen, the Lake is also popular for water skiing and fishing and also has BBQ facilities.

This addition will bolster what is already a great spot and is close enough to Mildura for day-trippers or even people passing through for a quick "dip".
